We have been notified that the gas leak at TAMUT has been contained and the the campus has re-opened at this time. In an effort to keep student, staff and facility safe the campus of Texas A&M University-Texarkana was evacuated this afternoon. Construction crews have severed a gas line on the TAMUT campus. Campus has been evacuated to First Baptist Church on Moores Lane and is closed until further notice. The Miller County Sherrif’s Department is reporting a couple of overnight arrests that resulted from traffic stops. Christopher Orand, and Howard Nielson are both in the Miller County Detention Center awaiting arraignment.
Yesterday at a local Walmart a woman tried to avoid possible shop-lifting charges by claiming two of her minor male relatives had gone to the restroom and not returned. She obviously didn’t think this one through all the way.
After receiving a tip that a jailer was smuggling contraband into the Bowie County Jail. When searched, Brandy Denise Coulter was found to be in possession of weed and tobacco. Coulter has been arrested and charged with a Prohibited Substance in a Correctional Facility and booked into the jail. She declined to cooperate with the investigation. Coulter’s bond has been set at $75,000.
Bowie County Investigators report that Jessica Stotts, 36, from Texarkana Arkansas has been arrested and charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance Over Four Grams and Under 200 Grams. Her bond has been set at $40,000.

Harold Gene Spicer is behind bars this afternoon in the Bi-State Jail accused of Voyeurism of a Child Under 14 Years of Age. Spicer is a registered sex offender and was identified by security footage that showed the 63-year-old looking into a young child’s window.
Miller County investigators have made an arrest in the burglary of the Westshore Restaurant in Garland City.
