The Texarkana Texas Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting “Movies in the Park” this Fall beginning with the movie “Trolls World Tour” on October 15. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, there will be plenty of room for social distancing at Spring Lake Park.
The Texarkana Texas Police Department is investigating an overnight accident that claimed the life of a 19-year-old young lady. The crash happened on St. Michael Drive, with the vehicle ending up in the TaMolly’s Parking lot. The victim has been identified as Alexis Pree, 19, of Texarkana.
In his address to the state on Thursday, Governor Abbott is allowing expanded reopening capacity in regions that are not in a COVID-19 Danger Zone. Texarkana Texas falls into that category and will be able to increase capacity at many businesses, however, bars are still not on the list.
These are the latest COVID 19 numbers released by our local health authorities. a total of 1,139 positive COVID-19 cases, with 667 recoveries and 71 deaths. Cass County has a total of 303 cases with 257 recovered and 14 deaths. Miller County reports a total of 727 positive cases, 660 recoveries, and 10 deaths.
A number of years ago the board of the Texarkana Museums System began doing “Haunted History Walks” in downtown Texarkana. Among the most heinous stories on the tour was the documented history of Ed Coy and Julia Jewell. With all the controversy over the statue downtown, I am being encouraged to share the story again.
Heather Rose, 38, of Texarkana, Arkansas, was arrested this afternoon for alleged Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student. Rose is a former employee of the Pleasant Grove Independent School District. She was booked into the Bi-State Jail and released after posting a $40,000 personal recognizance bond set by the judge.
What a great story from TISD and Texas High School about a good man and an American Hero, Paul Ray Mackey. Mackey would have graduated in 1954 but left school in 1953 to serve his country as a United States Marine in Korea. Today, Mr. Mackey received his High School Diploma.
