The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana is offering a new Certificate of Proficiency in Solar Energy Technology program. The solar energy student lab is under construction now, and the certificate program begins this spring at the UA Hope campus.

TTPD arrested and charged Brennen Brown, 20, with Injury to an Elderly/Disabled Person with Intentional Bodily Injury and Aggravated Kidnapping with a Deadly Weapon. He is accused of assaulting his grandmother and girlfriend. He has a total bond of $350,000.
The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department reports that the Bi-State 8th South District Drug Task Force in partnership with the FBI and Homeland Security conducted a narcotics search warrant in the 2200 block of Pecan Street. The warrant led to the seizure of 1.49 lbs of suspected Meth, 7.5 grams of suspected cocaine, multiple weapons, and approximately $14,000.00 in cash.
Local authorities are searching for an inmate that escaped from the Bi-State Jail overnight. Kylon Chevon Clark, 20, of Hooks, Texas was able to escape during a jail transfer around 3:00 am on Wednesday.

Jabaurri Martin, 23, of Houston, Texas had been pulled over by state police about 12:30 PM along U.S. Highway 67 north of Texarkana. Martin was driving a truck stolen earlier in Texas. While in the back of an ASP vehicle in cuffs, Martin was able to steal the police vehicle.

The Texarkana Texas Police Department has arrested a second suspect in the mass shooting at Octavia’s Event Center on Halloween night that left one dead, and 9 injured. Andre Morine, 24, of Texarkana, Arkansas, was involved in the shooting and is facing murder charges.

The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that 3 people died in a fiery explosion inside a barn in Bowie County. The three victims were identified as Steven Granbery, 60 years of age, Cynthia Granbery 55 years of age, and William Barnes 65 years of age, all of Simms, Texas.
The Texarkana Texas Police Department reports that Keuntae McElroy, 21, has now been officially charged with one count of murder, and nine counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Bond is set at almost $2,000,000.
