Since long before I have been alive, Dirt Track Racing has been huge in our area. As I kid I remember going out to the Speedbowl, and Stateline Speedway, and now for Saturday night dirt track racing, it is Texarkana 67 Speedway.

The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department SWAT team responded to the Ambassador Inn on Stateline Avenue Tuesday night. Officer initially responded to a welfare call and found that the situation had quickly escalated to a shots fired situation. One suspect was arrested and faces multiple charges.
The family of Harry Parker, 74, of Texarkana, Texas report that their father has been found safe at a hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Mr. Parker had left his home Sunday morning to go to the riverboats in Shreveport and Bossier and never returned home.

The Wynn-Price Plantation Society will be hosting a primitive Civil War Living History Camp June 2 – 4 at the Historic Wynn-Price Plantation grounds in Garland Arkansas. The Texarkana Texas Police Department has now arrested a second person charged with Aggravated Robbery in connection with the robbery attempt on Magnolia Street that left an 18-year-old man dead from gunshot wounds.

The Texarkana Texas Police Department is seeking information on Michael Gray, 19, of Texarkana Texas. No charges have been filed on Gray in the shooting death of Drake Griffith, 18, but police believe he may have critical information important to the investigation.

The investigation into the overnight shooting on Magnolia Street that left an 18-year-old man dead has led to the arrest of Joshua Cassidy, 37, of Texarkana, Texas on weapons and drug charges.

The Texarkana Texas Police are investigating an overnight shooting that claimed the life of Drake Griffith, 18, of Texarkana. Investigators believe it was a robbery attempt gone bad. One robbery suspect is still on the loose, and one resident of the home has been arrested and charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Marijuana.

The Texarkana Arkansas Fire Department responded to a structure fire Saturday night at 4423 E. Broad just before midnight. At first, firefighters believed that a person was still inside, but it was discovered the man had made it out of the building but was seriously burned and suffered smoke inhalation. Richard Vanderbilt, age 65, of Texarkana died from his injuries on Sunday afternoon.
The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department are reporting that they have arrested and charged Charles Harvey, 51, with Commercial Burglary and Theft of Property in the break-in that occurred at Joe’s Pizza & Pasta in downtown Texarkana.
The Texarkana Texas Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team recently completed a unique week long specialty training program at Fort Hood Army Base in Killeen, Texas. The focus of the training was in the planning and carrying out of high-risk arrest operations ranging from hostage rescues to barricaded persons and other scenarios.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that a single vehicle crash on Highway 67 in Texarkana claimed the life of Morgan Kyle Seals, 26, of Maud, Texas. An investigation into the accident will continue.
