LaSalle Corrections has terminated its contract with Bowie County effective February 12, 2021. Sheriff James Prince reports that this was put into the budget for 2021 and incoming Bowie County Sheriff Jeff Neal will be overseeing operations at the jail facilities.

Wednesday, November 11 is Veteran’s Day in the United States. A day to honor those that have served our country. In appreciation, many businesses offer discounts, specials, and in some cases, freebies.
Atlanta Texas is going all out for Veteran’s Day this year with a special celebration planned from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm honoring all of our area heroes. We will also be honoring Mayor Travis Ransom who will be deploying again just after Thanksgiving, this time going to Afghanistan.

From now through January 12, 2021, registration for spring classes at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana is underway. Classes are planned to begin on Wednesday, January 11, 2021.
Officers with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, along with T.T.P.D., Miller County, A.P.D., and Homeland Security, recently conducted vice operations on North Stateline Avenue, which resulted in 29 arrests on charges from drugs, weapons, prostitution, and more.

The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office reports that ADC inmate Randy L. Baker, 37, will be facing aggravated assault/death charges in the killing of a fellow ADC inmate while both were being housed in the Bowie County Annex Jail located at 105 West Front Street Texarkana, Texas.

The Texarkana Texas Police Department reports that the U.S. Marshals have arrested Alana Coleman, 38, a suspect in the Texarkana 2012 murder of Donald Ray Morris at the Redwood Apartments on 7th Street.
The annual “Four States Invitational Marching Competition”, hosted by Texas High School will take place this Saturday, October 24 at Grim Stadium in Texarkana. The competition will be from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm. Because of pandemic restrictions, there will be a few changes you need to be aware of.
